Free vs. full version

What does the free version include?

Unlimited single-page scans, 2 multi-page scans, and a library of up to 5 documents. No ads, no watermarks — exported PDFs carry no trace of Oda, free version included.

What does unlocking add?

Unlimited multi-page scans and unlimited documents. There are two ways to unlock: a one-time purchase (pay once, yours forever, no further charges) or a yearly subscription (auto-renews, cancel anytime). Both unlock exactly the same features.

Is "2 multi-page scans" per day?

No — 2 total on the free version. Single-page scanning is always unlimited.

New phone or reinstalled — purchase gone?

Go to Settings → Unlock Full Version → "Restore Purchase". Purchases are tied to your Apple Account; sign in with the same one and it comes back at no charge.

How do I cancel the yearly subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple: iPhone Settings → your name at the top → Subscriptions → Oda → Cancel. You keep access until the end of the current period.

How do refunds work?

Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find the purchase, and request a refund.

Scanning and recognition

What is a "searchable PDF"?

PDFs exported from Oda contain the document image plus an invisible layer of text. Open the file on a computer, press Cmd+F (Ctrl+F on Windows), and any word inside is findable — and selectable. Ordinary scanned PDFs are just pictures; a computer can't read the words in them.

Which languages can it recognize?

Sixteen: Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Cantonese (both scripts), English, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Ukrainian. By default it follows the app language; you can also set it manually in Settings → Recognition Language — useful if your app is in English but you scan Chinese documents.

Honest note: Apple's recognition engine has no Indonesian model. Indonesian documents are read with the English (Latin-script) model — usually workable for clean print, but less accurate than the languages above.

Recognition results are poor?

It says camera access is needed?

iPhone Settings → Oda → turn on Camera. The in-app dialog also has an "Open Settings" shortcut.

Managing documents

How do I read a scanned document?

Tap any page to read it full-screen: swipe to turn pages, pinch to zoom. The button in the top corner opens the editor.

Can I fix a bad shot?

Long-press a page and choose Edit (or tap the editor button while reading): an 8-handle crop frame, four filters (original / enhance / grayscale / black & white), plus brightness and contrast. Edits are non-destructive — the original is always kept and everything can be reset.

Scanned a bad page, or missed one?

Long-press a page to delete it or change its position; the "+ Add Pages" tile at the end of a document lets you scan additional pages without redoing the whole thing.

Can't find a document?

The search box at the top of your library searches both filenames and the text inside documents — search for any word you remember seeing on the page. Sort order can be changed in Settings.

Backup and switching phones

Are documents backed up automatically?

Not by default — Oda is fully offline and documents stay on your phone. If you want a backup, turn on Settings → iCloud Backup: documents go to your own iCloud storage, and new or changed documents sync automatically from then on.

How do I get documents onto a new phone?

Install Oda on the new phone, then turn on Settings → iCloud Backup — the app will notice your previously backed-up documents in iCloud and offer to bring them back. This requires backup to have been enabled on the old phone.

What happens to cloud files if I turn backup off?

You choose: keep the copies in iCloud (retrievable later) or delete them as well.

Exporting

Can I export images instead of PDF?

Yes. Tap Export on a document and choose PDF (searchable text — best for sending and filing) or Images (save to Photos or Files).

Exported PDFs are too large?

Settings → PDF Quality → Standard. Files get much smaller, with almost no visible difference for typical black-and-white documents. Keep High for documents with photos or for large-format printing.

Other

How do I change the app language?

Settings → App Language. Six languages (繁體中文, English, 日本語, 한국어, ไทย, Bahasa Indonesia), applied instantly.

Is my data safe?

Documents never leave your phone (unless you enable iCloud backup — and that goes to your own iCloud). Details in the Privacy Policy.
