The one-sentence version: your documents live on your iPhone. This app has no server, no accounts, and no analytics or advertising tools — we receive none of your data, and there is nowhere for it to go.
Oda is an iOS document scanning app made by an independent developer in Taiwan. It turns paper documents into searchable PDFs, with all processing done on your device.
Scanned images, recognized text, and document names are stored in the app's sandbox on your iPhone. Deleting a document, or uninstalling the app, removes that data from the device.
1. Your iPhone's system backup. If you use iOS's "iCloud Backup" (the feature that backs up your whole phone), that backup includes Oda's data. It is stored in your own Apple account, held by Apple; we cannot access it.
2. Oda's optional iCloud backup (off by default). You can turn on iCloud backup in Oda's settings. When enabled:
Both can be revoked at any time in iPhone Settings; the corresponding feature stops working and everything else is unaffected.
Unlocking the full version (one-time purchase or yearly subscription) goes through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Payment is handled by Apple; we never receive your name, card number, or any payment details. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles that data.
When you export a PDF or images, the file leaves through the iOS share sheet and goes only where you send it (save to Files, send to someone, print). Once shared, the receiving service handles it under its own policies.
Oda collects no personal data from anyone, including children. The app is not directed at children under 13.
Privacy laws (such as GDPR, CCPA, and Taiwan's PDPA) give you rights to access, correct, and delete personal data. For Oda: we hold no data about you, so there is nothing on our side to access, correct, or delete. Your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud — manage it directly in the app or in iOS Settings.
If the app's data practices ever change (for example, a future feature that needs a network), we will update this policy, change the effective date above, and flag significant changes inside the app.
